High absorption curcumin

Standard curcumin extract is insoluble due to its structure, therefore is unable to pass through the thin water layer barrier that lines the gut. To overcome absorption issues, our formula utilises a unique hydrogel dispersal technology that enhances solubility resulting in 300% increased absorption and rapid uptake. Although non-formulated extracts provide a 95% concentration of curcuminoids, bioavailability is very low.

Improved stability

Although curcumin is stable in the acidic environment of the stomach, it becomes increasingly unstable as it enters the alkaline environment of the small intestine, where the majority is simply degraded to inactive byproducts. To overcome these poor stability issues, the hydrogel technology protects curcumin against degradation in the harsh environment. The dispersal technology allows curcumin to enter cells rapidly, to enhance levels of curcuminoids in the body.

How does Curcumin C3 Complex® achieve 300% better absorption?

Curcumin is naturally hydrophobic, meaning it doesn't disperse well in water. In the digestive tract, curcumin molecules therefore tend to clump or agglomerate, limiting the amount available for absorption.

Curcumin C3 Complex® addresses this using a proprietary blend of polysaccharides, including acacia, xanthan and guar gum, which form hydrogels and act as a hydrophilic carrier. In the presence of water, this specialized delivery system promotes molecular dispersion of the curcuminoids, making them more readily available for uptake.

By targeting one of the fundamental barriers to curcumin absorption - its poor water solubility - Curcumin C3 Complex® provides 300% better absorption than standard curcumin, without relying on piperine.

Why doesn't Curcumin C3 Complex® contain piperine?

Piperine is commonly added to curcumin supplements to increase its half-life, in part by inhibiting glucuronidation - an important phase II liver detoxification pathway. Glucuronidation helps the body process and eliminate a wide range of substances, including hormones, medications, environmental compounds and metabolic waste products.

For this reason, we do not consider deliberately inhibiting this natural detoxification process to be an ideal strategy for improving curcumin availability, particularly for ongoing supplementation.

Our Curcumin C3 Complex® takes a different approach. Its hydrogel dispersal technology addresses curcumin's poor water solubility, helping the curcuminoids disperse more effectively and improving their availability for absorption without the addition of piperine.

What's the difference between Curcumin C3 Complex® and ordinary turmeric?

Turmeric root naturally contains curcuminoids, but they make up only a relatively small proportion of the whole root and are poorly absorbed.

Curcumin C3 Complex® is a concentrated extract containing three key turmeric curcuminoids: curcumin, DMC and BDMC. Our formulation then addresses another fundamental limitation of curcumin: its poor water solubility. Hydrogel dispersal technology helps prevent the curcuminoids from agglomerating, making them more readily available for uptake.
